JMM MLA lodges FIR against former treasurer of party

Wednesday, 20 October 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

JMM MLA from Ghatsila Assembly constituency Ramdas Soren has lodged an FIR against former treasurer of the JMM Ravi Kejriwal for allegedly making attempts to topple the Hemant Soren led JMM-Congress-RJD government.

The FIR was lodged on October 12 under section 124 A, 171 E, 120 B and 34 of IPC and section 8 and 9 of Prevention of Corruption Act. Hatia DSP Vineet Kumar has been assigned the investigation.

In the FIR lodged at the Dhurwa police station, the MLA claimed that Ravi Kejriwal and his associate Ashoka Agrawal had visited his residence with an offer to join their move to break the JMM to topple the government.  The MLA claimed that both had told him that they were contacting other JMM MLAs to form a new party to form the government with the help of the BJP.  Ramdas Soren also claimed that Ravi Kejriwal called him many a time with an offer of money and ministerial post if he agrees to go against the government.

In the complaint Ramdas Soren alleged that Kejriwal has specifically asked him his demand for money to destabilize the government. While the JMM is silent on this issue the MLA claimed that he informed the party about secret attempts being made to topple an elected government.

Kejriwal was an old time JMM leader who was considered very loyal to the family of JMM chief Shibu Soren. But last year he was sacked from the post of the treasurer of the party, which surprised many of the JMM insiders. The party did not disclose as to why the man fell out of favour with the first family of the JMM.

In the last three months this is the second sensational revelation made by any politician that attempts are being made to dislodge Hemant Soren.

Congress’ Bermo MLA Jaimangal Singh too had lodged an FIR that a Maharashtra based politician is contacting MLAs against the government. On his complaint police arrested three persons Amit Singh, Nivaran Prasad Mahto and Abhishek Kumar Dubey from a hotel in Ranchi.  They were accused for collaborating with two of the Maharashtra based BJP politicians Chandrashekhar Rao Babankule and Charan Singh and some financers to bribe Congress MLAs to destabilize the Government.

Police claim that the accused had gone to Delhi along with two of the Congress MLAs Irfan Ansari and Umashankar Akela and independent MLA Amit Yadav. Police said that meetings of these MLAs with some of the top BJP leaders were arranged. Police claimed that there is a high-level conspiracy to pull down the Government by defecting as many as 11 Congress MLAs and if police were to be believed eight Congress MLAs were in the regular touch.
