A herd of elephants has wreaked havoc at Sunduria and Purujoda villages under Telkoi block in Keonjhar district causing enormous damage to several houses and articles.

The herd of six wild elephants, including a tusker and two cubs, went on rampage in two villages late on Saturday night creating terror among residents. The wild elephants entered into Purujoda village at around 11 pm and destroyed a house belonging to a villager, Baya Munda, of Jagada Sahi.  Later, the herd moved to Sunduria village at around 2 am and damaged houses, paddy, rice and other articles of Dhira Mahakud and Dushmant Mahakud. On receiving information, forest officials warded off the rampaging herd. However, the villagers demanded compensation for the victims from the Government.
