Two poems written by Bhawani Shankar Nial during the lockdown period have earned international recognition as noted Italian poet, Emanuela Rizzo, translated them in Italian language.
Born in 1968, Nial, a resident of Bhawanipatna, has been active in literary field for the past two decades. He had written the poems in Odia during lockdown period which described fighting for one's identity. A lecturer, Bankim Mund, showed the interest and translated these poems in English which prompted 42 years old Italian poet Rizzo to translate it further in own language.
One poem was “Asa Paleiba Andhara Adaku,” and another one “Maguchi Mo Sansara,”. Nial says his poems are being appreciated here as well as in European countries. “The thoughts came in my mind as everybody is fighting for its own identity to somehow establish it,” says Nial.
