Kejriwal Govt to honour 122 teachers today

Sunday, 05 September 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Delhi Government will honour teachers of Delhi Government schools with State Teacher Awards to recognise their invaluable contribution during Covid-19 crisis.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, said it is because of our teachers our education is being recognised globally.” Teachers’ Day on Sunday will be celebrated as Abhar Diwas and city Government will award 122 teachers who discharged their duties diligently during the Covid -19 pandemic, deputy CM Sisodia said. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government will facilitate teachers who played an important role in the Covid -19 pandemic times.

Sisodia said the teachers played a big role during the corona. Teachers did important work in distribution, vaccination, and enforcement from duty at the Quarantine Centre to distributing rations in schools.

He further said that teachers performed duty during the epidemic, as well as conducted online classes amid challenges. The children’s mobile recharge was done by paying for online classes themselves.

Sisodia said, “During the migration of people, the teachers took responsibility and accommodated the children in Delhi.”

He further said that the teachers proved during the epidemic that the Guru has to be ahead of Govind.

Sisodia who also holds portfolio of education minister in AAP government said this year’s Teachers’ Award will also be special.

Earlier these were based on academic performance. But we converted it into a grand function in 2016. Sisodia said the number of awards has been increased from 103 to 122.

“Our teachers made sure learning doesn’t stop for anyone; they worked hard to find the children who had left Delhi during COVID; some even called students to Delhi at their own expense, gave devices to the children, got data recharged for those who could not access online classes,” Sisodia said, “Revolutionary change in Delhi’s school education and global recognition was possible only because of our teachers.
