Monday, 22 November 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

To kick-start the Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘Mission Punjab’, the party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be starting his two-day visit to the State  from Monday. It will be Kejrwial’s first visit to the State after the announcement to repeal Centre’s three controversial farm laws.

Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Moga district on Monday, followed by Amritsar the day after. During his visit, Kejriwal is expected to make big announcements for Punjab ahead of the state assembly polls, scheduled to be held early next year. During his two-day visit, Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Moga, Ludhiana, and Amritsar.

“AAP’s national convener will start ‘Mission Punjab’ from Moga with a big announcement on November 22. In view of the 2022 Assembly elections, AAP supremo under ‘Mission Punjab’ will visit various places in Punjab in the next one month and announce the party’s programs for Punjab and its people,” AAP’s Punjab unit president Bhagwant Mann said.

“Kejriwal will take part in a meeting organized by the party in Ludhiana. On Tuesday, November 23, he will attend the party's program after addressing a press conference in Amritsar,” he added.

Congress has also organised a meeting with party workers in Ludhiana on Monday where Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and state party president Navjot Singh Sidhu are scheduled to address the party workers.

Over the period of next months, Kejriwal is scheduled to visit various places in Punjab and campaign for the party.

Currently, Moga is seen as a politically significant district. Even in the 2017 assembly elections, Kejriwal had released his party’s manifesto for Punjab farmers with a political rally at Baghapurana in Moga.

Actor Sonu Sood, whose relief work during the COVID-19 lockdown earned him praise, also recently announced from his hometown Moga that his sister Malvika Sood will contest the Punjab polls. Though he has remained tight-lipped about the party, he recently met the Punjab Chief Minister Channi, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Earlier, Soon had also met Kejriwal who had declared him the brand ambassador for Delhi Government’s ‘Desh ka Mentors’ programme for school students.
