The first millet processing unit of Keonjhar district was inaugurated in headquarters town on Wednesday by Collector Ashish Thakare.
The unit has been set up under Odisha Millets Mission supported by District Mineral Foundation and will be managed by Krushna Self Help Group (SHG) under Mission Shakti. “The processing unit has a capacity of cleaning about 2 quintals of millet per hour and can clean over 500 quintals in a month. The unit has been established to ensure supply of clean Ragi under flagship of ICDS Ragi Laddu programme ofdistrict administration,” said an official.
Technical support to unit is being provided byDepartment of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN), district administration, he added.
