The Khariar police of Nuapada district on Monday arrested a person and seized a huge quantity of explosives and other incrementing materials from his possession. "Basing on information from reliable source, a police team led by Khariar SDPO Santal Jena along with local Additional Tehsildar Tapan Naik had conducted a raid on the house of one Prem Sagar Meher in village Tukla on the investigating night of Sunday and Monday and found illegal stocks of explosives and vehicles meant for the purpose of illegal explosion," revealed Nuapada SP Rahul Jain in a Press meet held at Khariar. "As the accused failed to produce any licence for keeping the stock of such explosives in huge quantity, he was arrested," he said. The materials seized included 2,925 gilatine sticks in 15 sealed card boards, 29 sealed plastic bags of ammonium nitrate each having 50 kg each, 34 bundles of detonators (844 in number) in a sealed cartoon, cash of Rs 32,900, two tractors fitted with compressor machines, four iron crow bars and a Samsung duo cell phone. "Investigation is going on to ascertain if others are involved in this illegal act," added Jain.
