Latehar, Garhwa to get Covishield vaccine from Palamu

Latehar and Garhwa districts are to take Covishield doses from Palamu where the consignment has arrived from Ranchi. District reproductive child health officer Anil Kr Singh said Garhwa is to get

6, 350 doses of Covishield vaccine while Latehar is to get 3,820 doses of the same.

Singh said the respective officers of these two districts have been asked to collect the doses on Thursday. Pregnant women and children below eighteen years of age are not to be given the dose right now.

The Covishield vaccine vial has no VVM. It is vaccine vial monitor. The Covishield vaccine vial is to be utilized within four hours of the opening of the vial.

Singh reminded that Covishield vaccine vial will be opened for administering injunction only when ten beneficiaries will be around.

He said one vial contains ten doses and when ten beneficiaries will be around its use will be proper and accurate. He said it is to minimize any loss of the vaccine as it is costly.

Asked if there are just five or six or seven beneficiaries around and vaccination session site gets over for the day at 5 PM then how to handle these people to which Singh said these will be requested to come next day.

He said every single drop of the vaccine is precious. A little co operation from the beneficiaries will mean a lot to help health team.

There will be no Covishield administration on the days earmarked for the routine immunization which are Thursday and Saturday said Anil Kr Singh.
