Kodo-Kutki Tihar” based on the products of Kodo-Kutki identified from Mandla district and display of Gondi painting and local products under the ‘One District-One Product’ scheme was launched in the Mocha Panchayat Bhawan complex of Kanha area. This product fair, which will run from October 10 to 17, was inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste, Union Minister of State for Food Processing and Jal Shakti, Prahlad Singh Patel.
On the occasion of the launch of Kodo-Kutki Tihar, Union Minister of State for Food Processing and Jal Shakti, Prahlad Singh Patel said that programs like Kodo-Kutki Tihar are important to promote local products and provide market. He said that the food and lifestyle of our ancestors was environment based and pollution free. We all should adopt their food and lifestyle for a healthy life.
Patel said that the food grains used by the ancestors, Kodo-Kutki and coarse grains are in great demand in the market today. The whole world is returning to India's lifestyle and food. We all should cherish and preserve the ancient traditions. “Kodo-Kutki Tihar” is a commendable step in this direction. Patel gave detailed information about the planned efforts being made by the Central Government to improve the lives of common people. He also discussed about Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal-Jeevan Mission, electricity, Pradhan Mantri Awas and other public welfare schemes.
Union Minister of State Prahlad Singh Patel said that the year 2023 is being celebrated as the year of coarse cereals. The concerned departments should prepare the farmers for the production of Kodo-Kutki and coarse grains. Also, give training to the farmers from processing to marketing of these grains. There is a lot of possibility of getting good price for Kodo-Kutki and coarse grains in the coming years. For this, farmers need to prepare from now on. Shri Patel said that while adopting traditional food grains, also explore possibilities for generating employment from them.
Union Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste said that tourists are being told about the local products and cuisines of Mandla district through Kodo-Kutki Tihar.
