Love in Covid times: Couples get ready for Valentine’s Day

Wednesday, 10 February 2021 | Divya Modi | Ranchi

Chocolates, flowers, dinner and dancing bring fond memories of Valentine ’s Day celebrations. With the new normal way of living during Covid-19, young couples across the City are looking for different ways to celebrate this day. From ordering the perfect gift online to planning a movie night, everything has been arranged to celebrate the special day.

For Paridhi and Atul Drolia, who got married four years back, everyday is special. “As a couple we have a habit of picking up flowers and other little gifts for each other on random days and that is what really makes it special for us. On February 14 which also happens to be a Sunday, we have decided to stay home and have a movie marathon session in the evening along with some Chinese food which we plan to order in. This year is also special as we have our three-month-old baby and stepping out on a chilly winter evening during Covid with him is something we would certainly avoid,” said Paridhi.

Devika and Kaustubh Govekar, who were in a long-distance relationship for a few years before tying the knot, believe they don’t need a specific day to celebrate love.”We don’t believe in celebrating one day to express our love butsince it’s a trend we just go out for a fancy dinner. This year with February 14 being a Sunday, my husband has offered to cook some prawns and fish for dinner as we don’t want to step out during the pandemic. Over the years, I have been making him a personalised gift, but since stepping out to shop was not a great idea, Ihave ordered a surprise gift for him,” said Devika.

Honey and Rohit Sinha, are looking forward to a weekend getaway away from the hustle bustle of City life. “The week before Valentines has been full of surprises and celebrations as my husband has been showering me with gifts on each day. As February 14 is a Sunday, we are heading to Royal Retreat on Friday for the quite weekend with our baby. This will give him some space to run around and we too will get a chance to spend some quality time together.”
