Mamata Didi's days are numbered as CM: Yogi 'BJP to restore the glory of Sonar Bangla'

Sunday, 04 April 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Invoking the ideals of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and great personalities who over a long period of time nurtured the cultural and educational heritage of Bengal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had pledged to rid West Bengal of anarchy and hooliganism and restore the glory of the 'Sonar Bangla'.

He called upon the people of West Bengal to lend their hand and help the Bharatiya Janata Party to realise the dream of all those great personalities who would have liked to see the state back to its resplendent past.

Lamenting that the atmosphere in the land of greats like Ramakrishna, Tagore, Bankim Chandra had been marred by anarchy owing to the appeasement policies of Congress, Left and Trinamool Congress over the years, Yogi Adityanath said the time had come to regain the pristine glory of Bengal.

"The wave of change is very much visible and after two phases of polling, it has become clear that the BJP is going to come to power in the West Bengal assembly,'' the UP chief minister enthused confidence.

Addressing the public during his road show on Saturday, Yogi Adityanath, while mounting attack on Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, said that it was a matter of concern that the land of Ramakrishna had been consigned to rowdyism and anarchy. "The BJP has vowed to relieve the people of Bengal from this vitiated environment and establish a rule of law in this glorious land, he said.

Yogi Adityanath said he had come from the land of Ram and Krishna and felt extreme pain to see how the land of Bengal was made a happy hunting ground for criminals and unscrupulous elements.

"I will need your support to dethrone the present ruling dispensation to pave the way for good governance and a government with compassion,'' he said.

He went on to say, "The large turnout at the road show indicates that the days of Mamata Banerjee are numbered in West Bengal as the chief minister."

Yogi Adityanath, who was on a day's tour to West Bengal for assembly poll campaigning, received a tumultuous welcome at several places he visited. He was received by huge crowds with a resounding chant of 'Jai Shri Ram'. During the course of campaigning, Yogi Adityanath held road shows in Uluberia in Howrah West and Howrah North before addressing public meetings in Kultuli, 24 Pargana and Falta, Diamond Harbour.

He said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already jeopardised her political career by opposing Shri Ram.

"She used to oppose the BJP but now she has started speaking against Shri Ram. History suggests that whosoever has opposed Lord Ram has been stripped of power within no time,'' he said, and added, "Mamata Didi has spelled a doom for herself.''

The UP chief minister said it was beyond imagination that the rich heritage of the likes of Subhas Chandra Bose, Bankim Chandra, Tagore, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had been spoiled by the goons of the TMC.

"Let the BJP come to power and in less than a month the criminals and mafia will beg for their lives as such elements have been made to do in Uttar Pradesh,'' he pointed out.

Promising a better future to the people of Bengal, Yogi Adityanath said this state had given 30 years to Congress, 30 years to the Left and 10 years to TMC, the symbol of corruption and bad governance.

"I ask for five years for the BJP and you will realise what pro-public and pro-development governance means,'' he said.

Yogi Adityanath said Mamata Banerjee should be asked what she did in all these years while she was in power.

"In UP, we provided 40 lakh houses to poor, one crore free electricity connections, protected the rights of old age persons, women, girls, traders and farmers through various welfare schemes but nothing has been done in Bengal,'' he said, while fuming, "The ruling TMC is answerable to this as to why the benefits of various welfare schemes did not reach the common man.''

Yogi Adityanath did not mince his words while coming down heavily on the Mamata government, alleging that the public money was swindled in corruption and appeasement without any vision of long-term development.

Recalling the contribution of BJP ideologue Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Yogi Adityanath said that he was the person who raised voice for nationalism from this land when he said "Ek desh mein do vidhan nahi chalenge (two constitutions in one country will not work).

"It was the courage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah that Article 370 was scrapped from Kashmir and now even a Bengali can buy land in that state,'' he said.

The UP chief minister said that even he felt sorry for the government employees of West Bengal who were yet to receive full benefits of the 7th Pay Commission unlike Uttar Pradesh where even a lower rank employee earned more than the first class officer of Mamata's state.
