In another development in the sensational murder case of schoolteacher Mamita Meher, a PIL was filed by a social organisation in the Orissa High Court on Thursday for a fair probe into the case.
The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad moved the court with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a CBI investigation into the case and a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family of the deceased. A total of nine parties, including DGP Abhay and the Balangir SP, have been made as respondents in the PIL.
Meanwhile, the Odisha State Commission for Women has served a notice to the SPs of Balangir and Kalahandi districts asking them to submit a probe report on the Mamita case within 15 days.
