The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly duping several people. Police said that the accused had duped around 17 investors to the tune of Rs 38 lakh in his projects.
The accused has been identified as Anil Kumar Sharma, a resident of Rajasthan’s Jaipur.
According to Dr O P Mishra, the Joint Commissioner of Police, EOW, a case was registered at EOW police station on the basis of a joint compliant of Gurjeet Singh Madan and others against Anand Ultima Builders Private Limited.
“The complainants had purchased plots of land of various size situated at Asiana Enclave on National Highway-8 at Jaipur in the year 2012-2014 from Anand Ultima Builders. Most of the complainant had paid complete agreed purchase amount but till date, they have not been given the plot. The total alleged cheated amount in this case is Rs. 38 lakhs approximately and number of total investors is 17,” said the Joint CP.
“During investigation the bank details were verified and relevant records and documents were scrutinized. Investigation from Government Land authorities revealed that no approval in the name of project “Ashiana Enclave” is given by them. Further, bank records revealed that the accused was the beneficiary of cheated money,” said the Joint CP.
“The accused director of the company, Anil Kumar Sharma has been avoiding joining investigation despite repeated notices. In order to apprehend the accused a team was constituted who arrested him from Jaipur on January 12. He was produced before the court in Delhi and one day police remand of the accused has been obtained for further investigation,” the Joint CP added.
