Marginal rise as State adds 1,129 Covid cases

The State on Tuesday reported 1,129 new Covid-19 cases in the 30 districts and the State pool, taking the total tally to 9,80,866. This was a marginal increase over the previous 24 hours’ figure of 1,032.

A total of 59,378 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 1.90 per cent. The active cases stood at 14,325.Out of the new cases, 657 were from quarantine and 472 local contacts.Khordha district reported the day's highest 388 cases followed by Cuttack with 135. The districts which reported below-100 cases were Baleswar with 72, Kendrapada 66, Jagatsinghpur 63, Bhadrak 60, Angul 55, Jajpur 48, Puri 48, Mayurbhanj and Nayagarh 20 each, Keonjhar and Deogarh eight each, Dhenkanal seven, Rayagada and Jharsuguda six each, Nabarangpur, Subarnapur and Sundargarh five each, Balangir, Kandhamal, Boudh and Malkangiri four each, Nuapada and Bargarh three each, Koraput and Ganjam two each and Sambalpur one. Besides, 76 cases were reported from the State pool. Another 69 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, mounting the total death toll to 6,033 in the State, the Health and Family Welfare Department said. The maximum 23 deaths were reported from Khordha district followed by nine from Cuttack, seven from Puri, six from Kendrapada, three each from Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj, two each from Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur and Kalahandi and one each from Balangir and Nayagarh.

However, another 1,785 patients recovered on the day, increasing the total recoveries to 9,62,088.
