Maya, Akhilesh congratulate Didi

Monday, 03 May 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati congratulated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee on her victory in the assembly polls. She also congratulated Stalin of TN, Vijayan of Kerala and Sonwal of Assam for winning their respective elections.

In her tweet on Sunday, she said, “Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to party leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the better performance by TMC in the West Bengal Assembly General Election.”

She further said, “Also, hearty congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Stalin of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Vijayan from Kerala and Mr. Sonwal of Assam for victory in the assembly elections.”

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also congratulated Mamata Banerjee over the landslide victory of  Trinamool Congress and termed it a befitting reply by people to BJP’s hate politics.

“Heartiest congratulations to the conscious public, the combative Mamta Banerjee ji and the dedicated leaders and activists of TMC, who defeated the politics of hate of the BJP in Bengal! This is a befitting reply given by the public to the insulting sarcasm 'Didi, O Didi!' by the BJP and its leaders,” said Akhilesh.

Mamata Banerjee’s 200-plus lead also drew congratulatory responses from NCP’s Sharad Pawar and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.  While the NCP chief congratulated Mamata Banerjee on her “stupendous victory”, Omar Abdullah took the opportunity to launch an attack on the Election Commission which he termed “thoroughly partisan”.  Exit polls had predicted a neck-and-neck fight between the TMC and the BJP in the 294-seat West Bengal Assembly.
