Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati alerted the people of Uttar Pradesh, asking them to be cautious on the election promises being announced by different political parties ahead of the 2002 assembly polls.
Reacting to promises made by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and even a host of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mayawati tweeted on Friday, "In UP, a flurry of election promises are being made every day, especially by Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party, Congress etc., to woo and mislead the people of the state. But these promises are mostly forgotten after coming to power. This has been their history till now. People should be cautious of them."
The BSP chief further tweeted, "The promises that the BJP and SP are making to the public, why did they not do the work while they were in the government in the state? Why did the Congress party not do what they promised to give 40 per cent tickets and scooty to women in states where they have governments? This is also something to think about.”
