MCG imposes Rs 5 lakh fine for illegal demolition and dumping of construction waste

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has taken strict action against those who are conducting demolition of their structure and dumping construction waste illegally.

Following this action, the MCG has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh and sealed two structures that were involved in demolationing their structure without prior permission from the MCG.

Apart from this, the civic body will also recover more than Rs 23 lakh from the building owners for lifting the debris.Recently, in the MCG house meeting, the municipal councillors had raised the issue to curb those who throw the debris in the open illegally the city, taking note of the issue the civic body started a campaign to take action against offences who are dumping construction waste illegally in the city and Aravali area. The following information on Thursday, a team of the civic body reached in Old DLF, Sector-14 area where a building was demolishing without the permission of the Municipal Corporation and its debris was being dumped in Aravalli and other public places.

On this, the MCG official imposed a fine of Rs 75 thousand on him and sealed the building by pasting a notice to recover Rs 2 lakh 16 thousand for lifting the debris.

In another case, a building in Udyog Vihar was also being demolished and its debris was thrown in the open, the official imposed a fine of Rs 4 lakh 25 thousand and also notice of recovery of about Rs 21 lakh for lifting the debris was also issued. The building has also been sealed.

These buildings can be opened only after the fee fixed by the corporation is deposited in the corporation.

However, according to the rules, if any building owner demolishes his house or building in the city, then his permission has to be taken from the municipal corporation, after that the civic body has to estimate the debris coming out of that building and deposit his fee in the corporation. So that the debris coming out of the house is not thrown in the open and it can be dumped at the designated place of the corporation and it can be disposed off.

“Whoever picks up the debris illegally and dumped illegally will be fined by the Municipal Corporation, only the Municipal Corporation will lift the debris from the building, otherwise action will be taken which includes imposing fine or sealing of the building,” Hariom Attri, Joint Commissioner MCG said.
