A public meeting was held at MKCG Medical College Square here on Wednesday reiterating the demand for setting up an airport in Brahmapur.
The Milita Kriyanusthan Committee has conducted many such meetings, as well as collected signatures on banners and postcards. So far, 10,000 postcards have been sent to the Chief Minister in this regard.
The people in the city are disheartened by the decision of Government excluding Brahmapur from the Udan scheme for regional connectivity. They feel that the authorities have ignored a genuine longstanding demand. Committee convenor Rajendra Panda, co-convener advocate Abani Gaya, teachers’ leader Syam Sundar Khadanga, social worker Gagan Chandra Mallik, S Prakash Chandra Patro, Biswadeb, Dhanurdhara Gouda, Purasatam Bisoyi, S. Kesav Lingam, Dr Siva Prasad Mishra and many others were present.
