MeT predicts relief from winter chill from Sunday

Owing to the presence of a western disturbance system in the higher regions of the country, the residents of Jharkhand can look forward to some respite from the winter chill as the minimum temperature is likely to rise in the coming days.

As per the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi there will be an increase in the minimum temperature levels from Sunday onwards. On January 25 and January 26, it could be slightly cloudy as well. The minimum temperature is expected to increase by about three to five degree Celsius.

“A western disturbance passing through the Jammu and Kashmir region is likely to have an impact over the weather condition of Jharkhand as well. From Saturday onwards the wind pattern will also change from north westerly o easterly which will further lead to moisture incursion and clod formation. Light to moderate showers are also being predicted throughout the State towards the end of this week,” said Deputy Director, MET Centre, Ranchi Abhishek Anand.

The weathermen further stated that for the next few days parts of north east Jharkhand adjoining to the state of Bihar and parts of south eastern Jharkhand will witness fog and low visibility problems in the early morning hours.

According to the bulletin released by MET Centre, Ranchi on January 23, in the past 24 hours,the lowest temperature was recorded in Bokaro at 7.5 degree Celsius which is 4.9 degrees below normal. Chaibasa was at 7.6 degree Celsius which is 4 notches below normal.

The State capital was at 8.5 degree Celsius which is 1.7 degrees below normal while Jamshedpur was at 9.9 degree Celsius which is 2 notches below normal.

The lowest temperature across the State was recorded at Giridih with the local IMD Observatory recording it at 6.2 degree Celsius.

As per the communique shared by the Department, from January 24 to January 27, the minimum temperature in the State capital and its surrounding areas will be around 13- 14 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature will be at 27- 28 degree Celsius.
