MGNREGA Commissioner visits Khunti to encourage villagers

In an attempt to provide employment through MGNREGA in remotest areas like Karra Block of Khunti District, MGNREGA Commissioner, Rajeshwari B visited the block to encourage villagers to join the scheme so that their income could increase.

On this occasion, Rajeshwari encouraged the villagers to join MGNREGA schemes along with agriculture work. She said that the enthusiasm and self-confidence of the villagers towards the schemes operated under MNREGA are commendable.

While addressing the villagers, the MGNREGA Commissioner said that we have to ensure the successful implementation of the schemes, so that every person can prove self-reliance and self-confidence. She said that seeing this enthusiasm of the villagers of Guni, it seems that we are all moving towards development. Khunti district will emerge as a perfect example for the entire State, she added.

Rajeshwari also appreciated the general public along with the Didis and the effort of the district administration and Deendayal Gram Swavalamban for making these works successful. Along with this, the self-confidence of the villagers also increased to move forward in this direction, she added.

Under Deen Dayal Gram Swavalamban Yojna in Guni village, continuous active efforts are being made under the construction of various water conservation structures like TCB, ridge bandy, Sokhta pit etc. Lemongrass has been cultivated in 12 acres.

The population of Guni village is 75 families. All the families have been linked to the scheme of MGNREGA. Gram Sabha was strengthened by the people with the help of inspiring didis to get rid of poverty, drug addiction. With this, the village has become 90 percent drug free.

During this, the Didis of Sakhi Mandal told the MGNREGA Commissioner that women are now full of confidence. Women expressed their views. It was told by Didis that now people are adopting a serious approach towards cleanliness and hygiene.

Rajeshwari said that the villagers have been widely apprised about the schemes and benefits associated with them in the Gram Sabha. She told how change in thoughts has given a positive direction in life.

In this episode, MGNREGA commissioner inspected the nursery developed by Sakhi Mandal under Didi Bagiya scheme in Gutjora village of Khunti block. Under Didi Bagiya Yojana, there are about 15,000 banana and papaya plants in the said nursery and about 4500 teak, sisam, gamhar and mahogany plants are included.
