Amid a lockdown enforced indistricts including Raipur, theChhattisgarh government hastold district collectors to openemployment under the MahatmaGandhi National RuralEmployment Guarantee Act(MGNREGA).The instructions are helping therural economy to remain inmotion by providing employmentto the ruralites amid the Covid-19induced lockdown, an officialstatement said on Monday.According to Zila Panchayat CEOBhatapara-Baloda Bazaar, a totalof 69,521 labourers have benefit-ted in the district under theMGNREGA in the first week ofMay. These include 20,505 in Kasdol,18,166 in Bilaigarh, 12,593 inSimga, 6,943 in Baloda Bazaar,5,926 in Bhatapara and 5,388 inJanpad Panchayat of Palari.
