Minor Dalit girl sexually harassed by computer teacher

Wednesday, 15 September 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

A minor Dalit girl was sexually harassed by her computer teacher in a Muzaffarnagar school while in Bareilly, a Dalit girl was molested during the last 24 hours.

In Muzaffarnagar, the 16-year-old victim was sexually harassed by her teacher at a computer training centre in Purkazi township on Monday. The accused was later booked under relevant sections of IPC, POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act.

Elsewhere in Bareilly, a man was arrested for molesting a Dalit post-graduate girl student, who happened to be his friend’s sister. The 21-year-old victim filed a complaint with the senior superintendent of police of Bareilly on Monday, accusing the man of molesting her and forcing her to quit her education.

She alleged that the accused had been following and molesting her for more than a year. She alleged that the accused had even shared a few obscene pictures and messages on her social media account and when she confronted him, he threatened to kill her.

Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered against the accused at Subhash Nagar police station and her statement was recorded. On Monday evening, the accused was arrested and the police were now gathering evidence against him.

The accused was booked under sections 354 (attempt to outrage the modesty of a woman), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and appropriate sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the police said.

Meanwhile, three men were arrested in Kaushambi for unlawful conversion of a 21-year-old woman, who had eloped with one of the accused last year.

The woman had eloped with her lover Mohammad Ahsan alias Hasan a day before her marriage, after which her brother filed a complaint and a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act.

Hasan, Mustafa, and Ateeq were subsequently arrested in connection with the case and the woman was sent for medical examination. It surfaced during the probe that the woman willingly eloped with Hasan, who in turn took her to Ateeq’s place where they stayed for six months. Hasan’s brother Mustafa told her that if she wanted to marry Hasan, she would have to change her religion. But after religious conversion, the girl was married off to Ghulam Gaus (25) of Pratapgarh.

Gaus has been detained and is being questioned. It also came to light that Gaus embraced Islam in 2014 and before that he was known as Ratibhan Pasi. Six fake identity cards were seized from Gauss' possession.
