The Congress on Thursday accused the Modi government of being "insensitive" towards farmers and alleged that the Prime Minister had neglected the farm sector in the Covid-19 economic package of Rs 20 lakh crores.
Senior Congress leader and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said the package, which promised relief to those battered by the Covid-induced lockdown, has proved to be a "jumla".
“It reflects the insensitive behaviour of the Modi government towards the farm sector,” he told the media here.
Choubey said the government had not put a single penny in the pocket of farmers or farm labourers through the package.
He also hit out at the Union government for a meager increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy. “ A mere Rs 71 per quintal was hiked whereas the hike should have been of Rs 210 as per inflation."
