Performing exceedingly well on the vaccination front, SAS Nagar (Mohali) district has emerged as the forerunner leading the state with 78.58 percent COVID vaccination of the eligible population, including the 18-plus and all special categories.
Informing, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said: “The civil and medical authorities in the district are working in tandem. We are reaching out to people in every nook and corner not only through outreach camps but also through door-to-door vaccination.”
In the Mega Vaccination Camps organized on Friday we vaccinated over 20,000 people in a day as against our target of administering jabs to 15,000 people, he added.
People by and large have overcome vaccination hesitancy so we will continue to work on war-footing to build the herd immunity to combat the third wave, he said.
Expressing concern over the third wave affecting the lives of people, he said that considering the spread of Delta virus in Britain and European countries, it becomes increasingly important to bring people in the ambit of vaccination. Experts from the medical fraternity opine that the second dose of vaccine fortifies people from dangerous variants; person administered with the two doses of vaccine undergoes fewer effects whereas a person with no immunization history tends to be affected badly. So, people should proactively come forward for the vaccination and every household should ensure cent percent vaccination of the eligible members, he added.
Dayalan appreciated the health teams for their consistent efforts and thanked the social and religious organizations for their support. He made an appeal to them to continue supporting Covid vaccination with the same zeal and passion.
