MP hands over 8 air-conditioned ambulances

Tuesday, 11 May 2021 | PNS | Jamshedpur

Amidst rising cases of Covid-19 in the city, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto handed over eight air-conditioned ambulances to the East Singhbhum district administration on Monday.

As per the plans seven ambulances, which are equipped with oxygen cylinders, will be used for people living in rural areas while one is meant for urban Jamshedpur.

Mahto donated the vehicles from his MP fund. Along with deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar, he jointly flagged off the vehicles from the district collectorate. BJP East Singhbhum district president Gunjan Yadav was also present on the occasion.

Sensing an urgent need to address the issues concerning Covid patients, Mahto took the initative.  The ambulances will be used in Ghatshila, Potka, Baharagora, Musaboni and Patamda in East Singhbhum.

Mahto will be shortly handing over six more air-conditioned ambulances, including two which will be meant for hearse service. Two ambulances will be for the steel city and will be run by the urban civic bodies Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee and Mango Notified Area Committee.

Mahto said ambulances  were the need of the hour in challenging times. “Emphasis is on restoring medical facilities in rural areas so that everyone can get better and timely treatment even when the corona peak comes. People living in the rural pockets will benefit. The vehicles have already left for their rural destinations,” he added.

The Deputy Commissioner while addressing the press representatives said that all the public representatives were urged to reduce the resource gap. In this sequence, today 8 ambulances have been handed over by the MP to the district administration, in which seven rural areas and one ambulance will be used for corona infected in the urban area. The Deputy Commissioner said that it is a matter of great pleasure that the recovery rate in East Singhbhum is better than the country and the state.

The BJP parliamentarian also helped out needy people by arranging rations and packed food to people living in blocks of East Singhbhum during the first wave of Covid last year.
