Mukhtar falls ill; taken to hospital

News about incarcerated don-turned-Bahujan Samaj Party legislator Mukhtar Ansari being shifted to Banda medical college hospital due to some serious ailment raised the hackles of the police and district administration on Tuesday.

 

After four hours of exercise in fortifying the hospital premises with additional force, the officers stumbled upon the fact that doctors undertook the exercise after Ansari complained of a toothache. Subsequently, the high-profile inmate was sent back to Banda District Jail.

 

As per reports, the local police went on the alert after learning that Mukhtar Ansari lodged in Banda Jail was being rushed to Banda medical college hospital after his health deteriorated on Tuesday. The doctors initially did not disclose anything which further created panic amongst the officers and they immediately deployed additional force at the hospital premises to avert any untoward incident.

 

It came to light that after his health deteriorated in the barracks of Banda Jail on Tuesday morning, Mukhtar Ansari was first brought to the jail hospital and was later referred to Banda medical college hospital. Later in the evening, doctors at the medical college hospital disclosed that the jailed legislator had a tooth ailment for which he was treated.

 

After this, Mukhtar was lodged back in the district jail.

 

On April 6, Mukhtar Ansari was brought  to Banda District Jail from Punjab and has been participating through video conferencing in the court hearings at Mau, Azamgarh, Prayagraj, Barabanki. On Tuesday, he was brought out of Banda Jail for the first time in five months.

 

Before being shifted to Ropar Jail in Punjab a few years back, Mukhtar Ansari, then lodged in Banda District Jail, was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow after it was suspected that the tea served to him was poisoned. In April this year, while Mukhtar was being transported to Banda from the Punjab jail, his brother, Afzal Ansari, and his family members had protested the High Court order apprehending serious threat to the BSP legsilator’s life during the transit. Even last week, Mukhtar had approached the court seeking security cover on the ground that he perceived a threat to his life.
