Sunday, 13 June 2021 | Staff Reporter | BIJAPUR

A Naxalite couple on Saturday surrendered to the police in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, the police said. Bijapur Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap identified them as Korsa Lachchhu (32), a Militia Platoon Section Commander, and his wife Korsa Anita (29), an activist with the Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangthan. Lachchhu was involved in several cases of crime including robbery, arson and murder between 2005 and 2021, the officer said.

They said they were impressed by the police rehabilitation drive and felt let down by the Maoist ideology.
