Netarhat Awasiya Vidyalaya is toying with an idea to have its own dairy farm in the campus. Principal Santosh Kumar Singh has met DC Latehar Abu Imran in this connection as well.
A PRD note of Latehar read that the DC Latehar is keen to see that the school gets one dairy farm of its own.
Singh said the school campus has enough of land where state of the art dairy farm can be set up.
He said this school has 460 acres of land and equally a large number of human resources to manage the dairy farm.
Sources said that Singh has put an embargo on buying milk from Lohardaga district.
Sources said milk used to reach this school from Lohardaga every day and the distance between Lohardaga and Netarhat is 80 kilometers.
Sources said Lohardaga milk used to cost Rs.44 a litre and Rs. 45,000 for the transportation of milk from Lohardagga to this school every month.
Singh said he will put a stop to it. Now milk is purchased from local milk men.
He said it is Rs.2 cheaper than the Lohardaga milk.
The Principal said each of the students here gets half a litre milk a day. Wardens and their members of the families too have this half a litre milk, he said. Singh said he has slashed the expenses like anything on the milk for this school.
He said Lohardaga milk used to reach this school in polythene packets and these were then a big threat to the environment of the school.
Singh said NOBA which is Netarhat old boys association has offered to help set up the dairy farm on the campus here.
Singh said he was satisfied with the way the DC Latehar Abu Imran heard his plea for the setting up of dairy farm on the campus.
