With an objective to kindle interest among younger generation in book reading and achieving proficiency in English as well as Indian languages which could open the gates for several career opportunities in a highly-competitive world, a library was inaugurated in the premises of Madhusmruti, the residence of former Ambassador Dr Malay Mishra at Gopal Ballav Road in Puri on Friday. The Sarojini Devi Memorial Library (SDML), named after Dr Mishra’s mother, is intended to develop into a multipurpose centre with lectures, seminars, book readings and various other interactive sessions with local educational institutions and civil society bodies. Joining as chief guest, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan Chairman Upendra Tripathy shared his experience in civil service and outlined his vision about need for critical and inclusive education in Odisha emphasising in particular role of Adarsha Vidyalayas as a significant milestone in progress of State.
