North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) Mayor Jai Prakash has offered to provide about 8000 beds in various institutions of NMC to Delhi Government.

Addressing the media, he said that Corona cases are continuously increasing in Delhi which is very worrying. Delhi Government will also have to cooperate fully so that we can all work together.

Jai Prakash said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had a meeting with the three mayors of Delhi and the commissioners of the three corporations through video conferencing. In which it was decided that the Delhi Government and Municipal Corporations would work together to prevent corona infection.

The mayor said that the Chief Minister had appreciated the work being done by the Municipal Corporation to prevent corona infection. In the meeting, it was discussed to make Hindu Rao Hospital a 200 bed COVID dedicated Hospital and further increase to 400 beds if needed.

“We have made arrangements for the Delhi Government to make beds available for corona patients in various institutes of the corporation. If the Delhi government provides oxygen facilities, then the polyclinic of North DMC can be developed as mini-hospitals in the residential areas.

He also added that in the 71 schools under the North DMC, which have 1700 rooms, 6800 beds can be developed if four beds are put in one room. “There are 12 big community centers in the corporation, in which 700 beds facility can be built,” he added.

The mayor further said that 2000 to 2500 beds can be arranged in 17 polyclinics and these polyclinics can be linked to any major hospital for emergency.

Jai Prakash said that we have requested Delhi Government and Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to give permission to start Covid Care Center at Balak Ram Hospital.

The north mayor further said that 100-bed COVID Care Center is also ready in Balak Ram Hospital.
