The state health department has claimed there was no adverse reaction reported in any of the beneficiaries inoculated with the vaccine on the first day of the drive in Uttarakhand. The Chief Operation Officer (COO) of the state Covid Control Room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 72 percent of the targeted beneficiaries were vaccinated on the first day in Uttarakhand. He said that the percentage of beneficiaries vaccinated in Uttarakhand is much higher that many states and added that those left out today would be vaccinated soon.

Tripathi claimed that the vaccination drive was done strictly in accordance with the operational guidelines of the government of India.

The data of the department suggests that a total of 2276 people were vaccinated on the first day against a target of 3,182.

With 84 percent vaccination, Chamoli remained at the top of the table. Here 110 out of 131 targeted were inoculated. Champawat and Pauri recorded 80 percent each vaccination while 79 percent target was achieved in Rudraprayag district.

In Dehradun district 353 people were vaccinated against targeted 509 beneficiaries. It is learnt that some beneficiaries citing health issues refrained from getting vaccinated.

The health authority has made it clear that the vaccine would be administered only after obtaining consent of the individual.
