Amid reports of exodus of migrant labourers owing to the fear of another Covid-19 lockdown in the State, Haryana Home-cum-Health Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday ruled out any possibility of imposing a lockdown.
His statement came a day after when the State imposed a night curfew prohibiting the movement of individuals for all non-essential activities in all districts to contain the spread of Covid-19. The State Government had issued an order imposing night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am, which was revised to 10 pm to 5 am on Tuesday. Vij said that night curfew is imposed in view of sudden surge in COVID-19 cases across the state. Instructions have been issued to the concerned officers to strictly enforce the night curfew but there is no plan of imposing a lockdown, he said. While maintaining that there is as yet no exodus of migrant labourers from Haryana, Vij said that nobody has to go anywhere as lockdown will not be imposed in the state.
There have been reports that migrant labourers from Gurugram have started to return to their hometown in panic after the imposition of night curfew in the state.
