No Respiratory OPD at MMCH

Thursday, 08 April 2021 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Medinirai medical college and hospital in Daltonganj has no respiratory out patient department. Patients said cases of flu are pouring in but these are treated in the medicine wing with other patients.

Deputy commissioner Palamu Shashi Ranjan on Tuesday straight way asked the medical superintendent K N Singh as to why the respiratory out patient department is not functioning to which Singh could not explain for this department to remain a non-starter.

The DC and DDC S Jamuar were on the inspection of the Covid care center in the medical college hospital on Tuesday when in the Gol Ghar office of the civil surgeon the DC lobbed this query to the medical superintendent in regard to the non functioning of the respiratory out patient department in this hospital but the medical superintendent just evaded to answer with clarity and assurance as to by what date this department will come functioning.

Jamuar said they will soon ensure the start of the respiratory out patient department in this hospital.

Sources said space crunch is said to be the reason behind respiratory  out patient department not starting here.

A good chunk of space is being used for the waiting hall, vaccination registration vaccination room and observation room in this hospital.

Sources said the medical superintendent K N Singh wants this vaccination site to be shifted to a building too close to the post mortem house which is resented by the civil surgeon John F Kennedy on the ground that the presence of the post mortem house in the contiguity of the vaccination room will be a dampener for the vaccination spirit which is already down and the look of the post mortem house will not cheer up anyone coming for the vaccination.

Kennedy said the medical superintendent is pressing for this relocation of the vaccination set up but it is found any relocation of it and that too to bring this vaccination set up close to the post mortem house will be repulsive to many people who may avoid taking the jabs in such a surrounding.
