An online event ‘Pragati Tagore’ to observe Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversay was held on Friday. The event was a beautiful amalgamation of poetry, Rabindra Sangeet and lectures.

The event was organised by Tagore Center for Culture and and Faculty of Humanities and Liberal Arts, on Tagore Jayanti.  Ashok Bhowmik, a painter and art thinker was present on the occasion. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor  Vinay Upadhyay, director of Brahmaprakash Pethia and Tagore Center for Toxicology and Culture, called upon the cultural heritage of Tagore to be recalled and cherished during this period of calamity.

Hemant Deolekar recited his poem outlining Tagore's creation in words, songs and colours. The theatre artist Hemant Deolekar in his special style presented 'Jaane Kab main bahut nahin gaya tumke aapke gaata' and 'tum ho mera apne tum ho mein paas'.

Taking part in the poetic recital, Tanishka composed the last lines from Tagore's second poem, 'Mera Shish Nava Do'. It was read so beautifully that it gave a new extension to Gurudev's spiritual vision.

In this connection, Vinay Upadhyay, a renowned art critic and editor of cultural journals, recited the poem 'That Anant Agni Kahan Hai' and 'Mere Pyaar Ki Khushboo'. These poems of Tagore were addressed to the world humanity in the uniformity of life, love and nature.

Along with this, Ashok Bhowmik, a sculptor and art thinker, underlined the call of world humanity in the creation of Tagore. He said that the more profoundly Tagore expresses the uniformity of life, love and nature in his word world, the greater the creativity, the greater the range of expression in his picture work.

Bhowmik commented on Tagore's ideas on painting and said that Tagore had started drawing in his last ten years. He believed that all languages and literature eventually divide. Tagore believed that painting is global, it can never be formal.
