Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Bharatiya Janata Party state in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam and Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ had lunch at the home of a dalit- the former Pradhan of Tunwala- Ram Prasad. The leaders had the lunch after addressing a function held on the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar on Wednesday.
Recalling Ambedkar’s role in drafting the Indian constitution and his efforts for social equality while speaking at the function, Gautam said that Ambedkar was against articles 370 and 35A and wanted to lay the foundation of a strong nation which the Congress did not agree to. He said that in West Bengal, the TMC had stated that the dalits are poor by both temperament and deprivation, which exposes the mindset of that party. The other opposition parties including the Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party had not criticised this which shows that they treat the dalits as vote banks. Stating that the times have changed now, he averred that only the BJP can ensure a secure future for all.
BJP State president Madan Kaushik recalled the struggles undertaken by Ambedkar and his contributions. He further said that the Congress party had worked against Ambedkar at every step. The CM also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
