Opp creates ruckus over ‘CM question hour’

Opposition parties BJP and AJSU Party on Monday raised the issue of the Chief Minister remaining absent from the question hour. Raising the issue in the first half of the Assembly proceeding BJP MLA from Bhawanathpur, Bhanu Pratap Shahi raised the question on the Chief Minister not available during the Question Hour in the first half of Assembly proceedings.

Shahi said, “Why the Chief Minister Question Hour has been suspended. During this time, answers to questions related to public interest were known directly from the Chief Minister. This tradition has been going on for 20 years, what happened that it has been suspended.”

Replying to the BJP legislator’s query, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam said that in view of Covid-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister's Question Hour has been suspended for the time being. He also said that this is not the last session; the Chief Minister Question Hour will be held in the coming session. On this, the Opposition MLAs took a jibe at the minister’s remark saying how corona can be spread by the Chief Minister attending the question hour.

The BJP MLAs on Monday too created a ruckus at Assembly on their demand of several issues such as State Government dissolving the 2016 recruitment policy, poor law and order issue and others.

Meanwhile, during the second half of Assembly proceedings, demand for a grant of Rs 31 billion 89 crore from the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation was passed by voice vote in Assembly despite BJP MLAs boycotting and walking out of Assembly.

During the discussion on the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation in the budget, Agriculture Minister Badal said 62353 beneficiaries have been uploaded so far for loan waiver. He said that the government will waive loans up to 50 thousand of 1,23,000 farmers.

The Jharkhand government has decided to waive up to Rs 1 lakh loans of farmers from next year. State Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon has announced a provision for this in the budget of 2022-23.

Meanwhile, in other development AJSU MLA from Gomia Lambodar Mahto brought work adjournment motion raising the displacement issue. Mahto, in his adjournment motion, demanded the formation of the Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission through the House to address the problems of the displaced people in the state.

He said that in the last budget session, the government assured to set up a displaced Rehabilitation Commission to study and solve the problems of the people displaced due to the establishment of public undertakings, private undertakings, irrigation projects and hydro-electric projects.

But the Displacement and Rehabilitation Commission has not yet been formed. Due to which lakhs of displaced people of the state are agitating for their rights at various places.

He said that since independence, thousands of cases have been filed against the displaced in the course of the movement.
