Over 11K healthcare workers get vaccine jabs’ in Haryana

Haryana on Tuesday administered the first dose to another 11,129 healthcare workers on Tuesday, the third day of the ongoing inoculation drive at 77 immunisation sites in all 22 districts in the State. 11,457 healthcare workers were administered the first dose of vaccine on Monday, the second day of inoculation drive while 5,907 received the first shot of the vaccine on January 16 when the drive was launched across the country.

So far 227 vaccine sessions have been held in the State and Covishield vaccine shots have been given to 28, 685 beneficiaries since the inoculation drive, Health officials said.

Haryana National Health Mission (NHM) director Dr VK Bansal said that the second dose of the vaccine would be administered to these recipients on 28th day of the first dose. The health department has directed the Chief Medical Officers (CMO) to ensure that the second dose of vaccine is kept safe for the beneficiaries.

Bansal further said that 2.25 lakh healthcare workers will be administered the vaccine in the first phase.               

After the health workers, the vaccine will be administered to the frontline workers, including policemen, paramilitary forces’’ personnel, sanitation workers and disaster management volunteers. Thereafter, people above 50 years of age and those aged below 50 years with co-morbid conditions will be covered under the inoculation drive, he added
