Around 16,84,524 people in Gurugram have been administered the Covid-19 vaccine. Senior officials of the Health Department said the vaccination drive is being done in Government and private health facilities across the district.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Gurugram, Dr Virender Yadav said that more than 16 lakh people have been vaccinated in the Gurugram district.

"The Health Department is continuing to organise vaccination camp at multiple locations in Gurugram to vaccinate maximum people and avoid further Covid infection. Following this a team of the department is being asked to cover slum area to protect poor people from the virus," Yadav said.

Meanwhile, amid a decline in the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the district health department has also issued an alert about the delta plus variant of the virus in Gurugram.

Though no case of the new variant has been reported yet in Gurugram, Yadav has issued an advisory to all the concerned officials and authorities about the new variant.

"To prevention and control of the delta plus variant of the Covid-19. A screening drive will run in the rural areas along with the urban areas of the district. Necessary directions have been issued to the concerned authorities," Yadav said.

The officials said So far, 17,21,779 covid tests have been conducted in Gurugram, of which 15,37,173 have come negative. In the last 24 hours around 3,784 tests were conducted in the district.

Apart from this, the Gurugram district on Wednesday recorded 12 fresh coronavirus cases. No death was also reported from the city. The district's COVID toll reached 919, officials said.
