Owaisi wants to develop Muslim leadership

Thursday, 09 September 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said in Sultanpur that he wanted to develop Muslim leadership in the country as well as in Uttar Pradesh. He said the no section of society could grow without leadership and the Majlis wanted someone from among the community to emerge as leader.

Owaisi slammed the secular parties –Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress –and accused them of using Muslims as their vote banks.

"Like any other community in Uttar Pradesh which has political leadership, the Majlis want that Muslims too should have their leadership so that they have a free political voice and due share in power structure,” Owaisi said while addressing the Vanchit, Shoshit Samaj Sammelan on the outskirt of Sultanpur city on Wednesday.

When asked by the media about the demand of SP MLA Irfan Solanki for a room in the Vidhan Bhawan for namaz, Owaisi asked why SP president Akhilesh Yadav was silent on this issue.

“The SP president will never support Muslims on any issue. Akhilesh Yadav as chief minister ditched Muslims during the worst ever 2013 communal riots in Muzaffarnagar. Did the SP government do anything to provide any relief to the 50,000 Muslims who were rendered homeless after the riots”," he questioned.

Owaisi maintained that his party had no communal agenda and the sole aim of his party was to fight for the Muslim community which had been ignored by all political parties.

The AIMIM president sought the people's support as his party would contest around 100 UP assembly seats in the 2022 polls. Owaisi is on a three-day tour of UP. He has visited Lucknow and Ayodhya and will end his tour with a public meeting in Barabanki on Thursday.
