Passengers create ruckus at Daltonganj after missing Rajdhani Express

Tuesday, 30 November 2021 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Around a dozen passengers who missed boarding the 12453 Up Ranchi Delhi Rajdhani express train on Sunday night at the Daltonganj railway station created a chaotic, threatening and volatile scene at the platform in sheer reaction to missing their train.

Railway officials were abused and insulted. Tempers ran high. Their relatives who had come to see them off were more aggressive, said sources.

It happened because of the change in the timing of this train at Daltonganj.

It used to come at 21.45 on Sunday but this Sunday due to the changed time it arrived at 20.39 and left for its onward destination after just two minutes.  These passengers said the railways kept them in the dark about this change in timing.

They said the railways did not send them any SMS in this regard.

On the other hand station superintendent A K Tiwary said the railways had sent bulk SMS in this regard.

He said he lodged the FIR with the RPF here in Daltonganj against three named accused and around a dozen unidentified people for creating ruckus at Daltonganj railway station last night.

One of three named accused is a passenger and an army man identified as C D Lakra, said Tiwary.  The other two are Udaipuris of the town Daltonganj who were there to see off their men.

GRP  town police and RPF jointly contained the situation, said sources.  Train movement had to be suspended via Daltonganj for one hour because of this violent hue and cry from 10 to 11 at night, said this railway official.
