Monday, 25 January 2021 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Sunday was well spent by nature lovers of the city. Anant Mandi was a big hit in the city, as Bhopalites had a look at the organic products. It was held at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday.

Anant Mandi is a joint initiative of GoRurban, Anant and Gandhi Bhawan which aims to promote healthy, local and seasonal food and sustainable farming.

This time the attraction of Mandi was pet adoption drive, which is organized by Dantes Bowl Charity. It is a group of animal lovers from Bhopal working towards making the life of animals a little better. The group feeds and cares for 100+ dogs in different areas of the city. They also rescue and rehabilitate animals in need and conduct sterilization and adoption drives.

Through this Mandi we are trying to build a healthy relationship between the producer and consumer. This is also an attempt to create an eco-conscious community in an urban city like Bhopal. Anant Mandi is organized on the second and fourth Sunday of every month at Gandhi Bhawan.

Organic farmers from nearby districts in Madhya Pradesh bring and sell a variety of food products like vegetables, grains, pulses, oil, honey, jaggery, dairy products, khaad, herbal medicines and personal care products. Apart from this, various workshops, discussions, art gatherings and interesting activities for all age groups were held.

Anant Mandi had a variety of products like organic vegetables, grains, dairy products, oil, honey, skin care products, cloth bags, diaries, zari zardozi bags. Anant Mandi will have a variety of food stalls put up by the cooking enthusiasts, time there will be soup, muffins, brownies, and South Indian dishes, all made up of organic ingredients.
