The annual conference of Bihar and Jharkhand chapter of plastic surgeons of India was held on Saturday in Ranchi under the presidentship of eminent cosmetic surgeon Dr. Anant Sinha. At least 47 delegates from Bihar and Jharkhand attended the conference.
Dr. Hari Venkatramani from Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, Dr. Subodh Singh from Varanasi, Dr. Ranjana Malhotra from Howrah, Dr. Vimalendu Brajesh from Medanta Hospital in Delhi also graced the convention with their presence.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Arun Kumar Singh, the chief guest for the convention declared it open. Singh said that he is trying to start a teaching programme for plastic surgery at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi and urged the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to extend its support for the same.
A session with dermatologists was held during the conference on Saturday for treatment of post-traumatic and post-burn scars. Similar sessions with orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anant Sinha said that a trauma unit cannot function without the support of a plastic surgeon. “It is the only specialty that covers head to toe and the theme of the conference is also head to toe,” said Sinha.
