Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Poddar has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav urging to extend the train number 18613/14 Ranchi-Chopan-Ranchi train via Lohardaga Tori line up to Singrauli. Along with this, through another letter, Poddar has also requested the Minister for budget allocation of rail line to Giridih via Sammed Shikhar, the world famous Jain pilgrimage site.
In the letter Poddar has said that in view of the proper use of Ranchi-Lohardaga-Tori railway line, started during the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the request of citizens of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and various civil organizations the extension of train number 18613/14 Ranchi-Chopan-Ranchi train up to Singrauli, appears relevant. Ranchi-Singrauli-Ranchi train via Lohardaga, Tori, Renukoot, Salaibanwa, Doohi, Obra Dam will prove to be very useful and will provide convenience to the passengers of a large area of three states and increase the revenue of railways.
Singrauli, Shaktinagar, Baidhan, Renukoot etc are industrial cities and there are many small and big commercial areas and big coal mines around these cities, where citizens of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are in large numbers for livelihood and jobs make traffic.
In another letter to the Railway Minister, Poddar has said that the Bhumi Pujan of Giridih railway line via Parasnath to Sammed Shikhar under Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway has been done in 2019 itself. Sammed Shikhar is a major pilgrimage center for Jains, where devotees come from all over the country. The project of laying about 50 km long rail line from Parasnath railway station of Dhanbad railway division to Madhuban in Giridih district is ready, all the survey work has also been completed but due to non-allocation of adequate budgetary amount, no action has been taken in this direction so far. Through this project, the main line will be connected to the Grand cord line, which will also provide a lot of convenience to the passengers of the North East.
