Bokaro police on Sunday arrested 5 members of a bike theft gang from different locations in Bokaro district and recovered ten stolen bikes from their possession.
Deputy SP Kuldeep Kumar said that these days vehicles were being stolen from different police station areas of the city, and a team was constituted on the directive of Bokaro Superintendent of police Chandan Kumar Jha to bust such rackets.
Kumar said that on October 16, the city police were conducting a vehicle checking campaign at the post office intersection, when three people on two vehicles arrived, when the police stopped them, they left the vehicle and started running.
The Deputy SP said that when the police chased them, they confessed to stealing two bikes. A total of 9 bikes were recovered after raiding their spot and City police arrested three people.
While at the same time, Sector 4 police also arrested two people with a stolen bike.
The Deputy SP said that some bikes have also been recovered from the neighbouring district of Ramgarh. In this case, Sector-4 police arrested Abdul Kudus Shah and Abhay Kumar and City Police have also arrested three youths, identified as Rajan Mishra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Raja Samrat Singh. All these gang members have links with the inter-state vehicle lifting gangs. The DSP said that the recovered motorcycles were manufactured by leading two-wheeler companies.
