Police constable booked for thrashing doctors

A police constable was booked on charges of thrashing two junior doctors and misbehaving with senior doctors at the Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here on Monday.

According to the hospital management, Constable Shatruhan Oroan beat up Dr Aman and Dr Manoj while they were on duty.

The two policemen posted at the hospital could not control their colleague. So, they have been replaced by two other policemen.

After the incident, Medical College Dean Dr Vishnu Dutt, Hospital Superintendent Dr Vinit Jain and Radiology Department head Dr S.B.S. Netam met Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Lakhan Patle.

On their demand, four additional policemen were appointed at the hospital to provide security to the doctors.

The hospital has demanded deployment of armed guards at the hospital and police patrolling in the wards and OPD.
