Sixteen personnel from the Chhattisgarh Police were on Friday honoured for quickly investigating crime against women leading to conviction and sentencing of the offenders.
Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi honoured the personnel, a press release said.
In a case registered at the Telibandha police station, the offender was awarded punishment within 30 days of the crime. Speedy investigation and strong evidence led to the conviction.
In a similar case in the Khamtari police station limits, police presented challan in court within 48 hours of the crime. Due to swift investigation along with solid evidence, the offender was punished by court within 45 days.
The DGP has instructed police personnel to swiftly act when crime occurs against women so that trails are held quickly and victims get justice, the press release said.
