The DGP has issued a circular to all the district police in-charge directing that traditional Uttarakhandi food be prepared in all district, unit, police station/post and detachment mess once a week.

The DGP said that the traditional dishes of Uttarakhand are considered very beneficial from both the nutritional and taste points of view. Introducing the traditional dishes in the police mess will encourage the local produce on the one hand and on the other hand it will also benefit the health of the Uttarakhand police personnel, said the DGP.

It is pertinent to mention here that the traditional dishes of Garhwal and Kumaon are not only high in nutritional value but also quite popular for their taste.
