In a heart-wrenching incident in Etah district, a poverty ridden man killed his 3-year-old daughter with a knife.

He also tried to bury her but some local residents became suspicious and informed the police.

The man later confessed to killing his daughter, saying that he had no money to purchase medicines for her so he killed her.

The cops took the accused in custody and were making further investigations.

The incident took place in Avagarh police station area of Etah where a three-year-old innocent girl, Fiza, was killed by her father with a knife.

After the murder, when the father of the child (Praveen Kushwaha) was trying to bury her body outside the village, some villagers suspected foul play as they found just one person present during the burial. They informed the police after which the body was exhumed and sent for post-mortem.

The man during interrogation claimed that he was Praveen Kushwaha, a resident of Etah Kotwali. He said he used to work in Tundla in Firozabad and Seelampur in New Delhi but in 2018, his wife, Sajia, died due to dengue so he returned to the village to look after his daughter.

He said that his daughter was not well since last  about one week, On Thursday, she started crying but as he had no money for her treatment, he was so upset that he took a knife and stabbed her to death. He later took the body for burial when he was caught by the villagers.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Etah, Sunil Kumar Singh, said the accused disclosed that his daughter, Fiza, was ill for a long time. Singh said that interrogation revealed that Praveen was in financial crisis due to which he was not able to give time to take care of the girl child. Finding no other way out, he killed his daughter.

Singh said a murder case was registered and Praveen was arrested and sent to jail.

In another incident also reported from Etah, a 25-year-old youth raped a 6-year-old girl residing in his neighborhood.

According to reports, a youth, identified as Ashok of Kanshiram Colony on GT Road under Kotwali police station, lured a girl playing in his neighborhood on Friday morning. He took the girl and tried to rape her but she screamed and some passers-by rushed to her rescue.

Ashok tried to escape but the residents nabbed him and after finding blood near the private part of the victim, they called the police and handed him to the cops.

The cops registered a case and arrested the accused.

The girl was rushed to hospital for treatment and medical examination. 

The cops said that during interrogation, it appeared that Ashok was mentally unsound so they were grilling him and trying to extract the truth before sending him to jail.
