PRCI to observe World Communicators Day

Thursday, 28 October 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

In an attempt to focus on the contribution of communicators and the importance of  communication discipline and  profession,   PRCI initiated World Communicators’ Day to be celebrated on October 28 – the day the world’s first Press Release was shot out by Ivy Lee in the US on  October 28, 1906, following  a Pennsylvania Railroad train accident tragically killing 50 people. Ivy Lee, who was working with Pennsylvania Railroad at the time, urged the company to send reporters to the scene of the accident and report the facts.

The celebration of the day makes a way for increasing awareness of the positive communication and this bold, truth-telling strategy that created a whole new concept for public relations and journalism among people in the world.

The day is celebrated by various PRCI chapters by organising workshops, including sessions on the art of press release writing fit for the contemporary multi-media world. Panel discussion and Chapter level awards to Journalists, writers, PR professionals etc who have excelled in their respective area of work.

Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) is a pan-India Communication Exchange with 50 chapters spread out across the Indian cities and towns. PRCI is a national body of professionals drawn from PR, Corporate Communications, Advertising, Media, Event Management, Academics, and allied domains.
