Prepare master plan for upgrading RIMS: CM

Friday, 17 September 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday directed officials concerned to prepare a master plan for redesigning and upgrading of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) as a part of the Government’s plan to improve the health infrastructure in the State.

Chairing a review meeting of the Health Department, Soren also directed officials to improve the facilities at district hospitals and healthcare centres at the Panchayat level in order to provide necessary treatment to patients close to their residence.

In a bid to provide speedy medical attention to survivors of road accidents, the Chief Minister directed officials to mark all the black spots and accident-prone zones across the state and set up trauma centres close to these locations.

To increase accessibility of ambulance services, the health department should also try and develop a GPS platform for ambulances of private as well as government hospitals, Soren said during the meeting.

Besides, he asked officials of the health department to clear all the hurdles in the process of admission for medical students in some of the medical colleges in Jharkhand.

Soren said that the State should also encourage men to take up nursing as a profession, which would not only provide employment opportunities to men but also help the state fight any crisis of nurses in the future.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand on Thursday vaccinated at least 1.25 lakh residents against Covid-19, while the active caseload of SARS-CoV-2 infection dropped further down to 102 as Covid recoveries outnumbered fresh cases of infection, figures compiled by the health department highlighted.

As per provisional data released by the National Health Mission (NHM), the state on Thursday administered the first dose of vaccine against Covid-19 to at least 82,786 residents, while the second dose was administered to as many as 44,236 beneficiaries. Nearly 1 lakh beneficiaries vaccinated on the day fell in the age bracket of 18 years to 44 years.

A separate bulletin from NHM stated that at least 14 Covid patients recovered in Jharkhand on Thursday, while six people were found infected by Coronavirus. Only two of the 24 districts reported fresh Covid cases on the day.

As per government data, Ranchi alone reported four of six Covid cases, while East Singhbhum reported the remaining two on Thursday. The active caseload of Covid-19 dropped to 63 in Ranchi as the district reported at least eight Covid recoveries on the day. The active caseload in East Singhbhum reached five as the district reported only one recovery against the two cases of Covid-19.
